• If your water hook up is not directly behind the washer then 3 inches should be okay. In our case, the water connections come out of the wall just below the top of the washer so we needed 5 inches. Hope this helps.

• There needs to be 4" behind the washer for sufficient clearance for water inlet hoses, drain hose and airflow. ^Daphane
