Is this a high efficiency machine? null

Yes and No. Compared to the older machines, this unit is much more efficient in using less water and less electricity; however, some of the front loaders are even more efficient. This unit will do a LOT of laundry, and it takes close to an hour. I had a front loader (which I returned after 6 months because of a problem) that took about the same time to run through the cycles, and it appeared to use less water. I don't know difference in electrical amounts, but it might have used a little less electricity. I hope this helps.
