The stated depth of 28-3/4 is the actual physical depth of the unit. The manual illustrates on page 12 that you need an ADDITIONAL 4" of clearance behind that. In my installation, I have two 60-degree hose adapters, which points the hoses downward instead of straight out the back, which free up enough clearance to allow me to have it about 2.5" - 3" from the wall. So you MUST have at least 31-3/4 inches TOTAL depth available for this unit.

The WT5070CW requires the following installation clearances:
1 inch on each side and in the front
4 inches behind the unit
