Enormous wash tub!

At first I was a little intimidated by the size and the fancy buttons, but it is really easy to use. The options are quite straight-forward, once you've used them a time or two. The model comes with a laminated "cheat sheet" to help guide you through some simple washes your first few go-rounds. The washing cycle is quiet (quieter than my old Maytag). The spin cycle reminds me of an airplane as it's coming in for a landing - not that it's super loud or anything. Just mimics the sound. Stainless steel washing tub is ENORMOUS! (I am 5'5" and can barely - on my tip toes - reach the bottom of the wash tub. If you're shorter than this - pick up a step stool! You'll need one!). Before this washer, I did at least 9 wash loads and 9 dryer loads, per week (I previously owned a super-capacity Maytag washer). I now only have 4 wash loads and 4 dryer loads a week! Our clothes come out clean, smelling wonderful and not damaged. There is no (traditional) agitator in the wash tub, but it still gets the job done with it's little bumpy-spinny-thing at the bottom of the tub (sorry - I don't know what's it called - HA!). I have not tried the bulky cycle (for bedding and such) or the heavy duty cycle yet - perhaps I'll do another review once I've used those. We've owned this washer for one month and have seen a $6.00 drop in our recent monthly water bill. We are transitioning between seasons right now in Colorado (stopped using our AC daily), so I really couldn't tell if there was a difference in our electric bill - but I'd imagine there was (for the good). Oh, one tip - be sure to measure your available space before purchasing. Luckily ours fit - we had to make some adjustments - but got it to work out for us. It's a larger washer altogether and then on top of it, there's some stuff in the back that sticks straight out of it (the water tubes didn't help either). You cannot manipulate it to bend or twist in one direction or the other, so you'll need additional clearance (at least 4 - 5 inches additional) in the back for it to fit in the space. I really like this washer - I have no complaints!!

BEST WASHER EVER SAYS THE CLEAN FREAK

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE LG TOP LOAD WASHER..I HAVE HAD THIS FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS NOW AND WASH AT LEAST 5-6 TIMES A WEEK FOR 2 PEOPLE..I AM A CLEAN FREAK! YOU CAN DO SMALL LOADS, QUICK LOADS AND BULKY ITEMS LIKE COMFORTERS FOR QUEEN SIZE BEDS, WHICH I JUST DID. I HAVE NEVER HAD A SINGLE PROBLEM EVEN WITH ITEMS SUCH AS THE COMFORTER, THAT STATED ON THE LABEL TO USE A COMMERCIAL WASHER. NO PROBLEM FOR THIS AMAZING APPLIANCE. RUN DON'T WALK TO GET AN LG WASHER..PS I ALSO PURCHASED THE MATCHING DRYER WHICH HAS HAD ZERO PROBLEMS, JUST LIKE THE WASHER. I LIKE THE LG WASHERS AND DRYERS BECAUSE THEY HAVE SETTINGS FOR SMALL LOADS, FAST LOADS AND BULKY BEDDING, BECAUSE LET'S FACE IT..THIS IS SOME OF THE KIND OF STUFF PEOPLE CLEAN I

I researched this machine heavily before buying and it was one of the top rated machines. Reading some of the reviews, I was concerned about several things. One lady reviewed the machine highly but discounted one star for leaving water in the detergent bin. The washer dispenses water through the detergent bin so as indicated in the instructions that is normal. Others said it was rough on clothes. I haven't found this to be the case. Hard to be rough on clothes without an agitator. One of the big complaints was feeling there wasn't enough water to get clothes clean. This was a concern to me also after watching a cycle begin. The amount of water wasn't anything like an agitator washer. In fact it look as if some clothes weren't going to even get pulled under the water. So of course I had to watch the entire 50 minute cycle (can you say no life? Lol). This is why I said it takes some mental adjustment. There is some agitation as the bottom rotates a different direction than the drum and this slowly pulls the clothes through the water but the drum undergoes some high speed spinning during the wash cycle, spinning one direction then reversing, pausing in between cycles. In all our washing experiences we are used to moving the clothes through the water eventually getting them clean. These type of machines reverse that and conserve water by essentially moving the water through the clothes. The repeated spins.cause the water to move through the clothes like a spin cycle wrings out the wetness. This process is repeated over and over with the detergent laden water and voila..clean clothes! people who like to have loads of water with their clothes sloshing around inside aren't going to appreciate this right away. Because the washer is so spin intensive the clothes must be distributed evenly inside. I have had only one issue with this when washing a single large blanket that caused the machine to stop. It was easy enough to redistribute the load and have it finish it's spin cycle. You must read the operating manual to understand some of the more unusual aspects of the HE top loaders such as the locking lid and how to add clothes in a cycle . I am very pleased with the purchase and the large capacity cuts down time overall although I think the cycle times are maybe ten minutes longer than my old kenmore. Definitely got the best deal through best buy on sale with free pickup and delivery and setup.

Awesome Washer

What a great washer! It is very quiet, has plenty of settings to choose from and really gets the clothes soft and clean, something my 20 year old washer could never do. I am partial to Samsung products but the reviews weren't all that great, so I started looking at LG, then went into the store and received help from Dennis (Thunderbird & I-17) and he was a great help, told us all about them and that helped seal the deal. Once we got them home, it was so odd to see all the bright lights and the settings. It's so easy to use, it's great to put the soap in, fabric softener and then press the button. It has a very large drum, something that I wasn't used to, and it does take a little longer to do the laundry, but it saves on water.
The time delay setting is amazing! It's nice to set it right before I go to bed and then when I wake up, the clothes are nearly done. It's a great feature, this way I feel like I'm ahead of the game and not spending my entire day doing laundry, as I didn't think I'd use this feature but I love it.
My teenage daughter now thinks that doing laundry is fun, so I no longer do her laundry, she does her own, so I have really freed up my day and have more time because this washer is absolutely easy to use. It plays a cute little song when finished, you have the option to silence it, but we like it so it's on. The whites are so bright, and the clothes are so soft. When we first got it we stood there for quite sometime to watch it since it has a clear top and it's pretty cool to see how it works. I'm extremely happy with the top load instead of the front load.
The cats don't go near it anymore due to the clear top, it freaks them out, so now, no more kitties in my laundry room, so overall, it's a win/win situation. Cats are now out of the laundry room, daughter thinks doing laundry is fun, the delay timer helps with time management and this washer is goes well beyond my expectations.
I've always been partial to Samsung, but I have to say, making the decision to step out of the box and go LG was the best thing ever. I guess it really has made my "Life Great" as LG has made a fantastic washer.
I think anyone who purchases this washer will be surprised how much they like it, I'm even surprised I love this new appliance, but it's great. I can't say enough great things about it. Do the research, check on-line for price match.

This machine has an excellent capacity for the price, plenty of wash cycles, and doesn't appear to use a lot of water for its capacity. Clothes come out as clean as my old Maytag agitator. Typical time to wash clothes is an hour, so set it and forget it. My Maytag usually took 40 minutes.

This machine performs great. I have to wear uniform shirts and pants to work and I prefer to wash them at home. This machine gets them clean without beating them up. My wife loves it because she can wash 2 full baskets of bathroom towels in 1 load. Our queen size quilt washed nice too. It's a quiet machine and has a lot of wash options. Just wish the finishing signal was a little more loud so I could hear it from the second floor.

I was in need of a washer when my 20 year old Kenmore finally broke down. I was actually glad it broke as I really wanted an excuse to purchase a more efficient washer. The LG top load had great reviews and we selected it rather than a front loader due to all of the negative comments about mold with the front loader. This washer so far is great. There are alot of settings so it takes a bit of time to pick out the right one. The only downside is that it seems to take much longer to wash one load and the loads come out best if you don't put the maximum amount in. One feature that is great is the wool setting - it actually works and I have washed cashmere, wool and other fabrics that say "hand wash only". The downside is that it takes 40 minutes on the wool cycle so you really need to plan ahead and put a couple of things in there rather than just one item. I have also pre-treated stains and used the "soak" function which has worked effectively to get out chocolate and blood stains in combination with Oxy Clean. We have only had it for less than a month, so I don't know about the cost savings yet.

I have been very pleased with with my LG Dryer!!! It has soooo many options, that I still haven't tried them all yet. It holds a large number of clothes. And dries very fast. I have no complaints, other than the dryer door is a little hard to open. It just seems to have a very tight latch. Just takes some getting used to. Very pleased with my purchase.
A:AnswerThe stated depth of 28-3/4 is the actual physical depth of the unit. The manual illustrates on page 12 that you need an ADDITIONAL 4" of clearance behind that. In my installation, I have two 60-degree hose adapters, which points the hoses downward instead of straight out the back, which free up enough clearance to allow me to have it about 2.5" - 3" from the wall. So you MUST have at least 31-3/4 inches TOTAL depth available for this unit.
A:Answernot enough water you have to pause the machine after the water stop filling and hold the extra water button for 3 seconds to get more water.
The sensing water level does not work properly.
A:AnswerIt's happening because the machine doesn't work properly! I have the same problem among others... Ever hit the power button by mistake while in the middle of a wash? A too easy thing to do.
A:AnswerThe bottom is plastic. No delicate cycle but then there's no spindle to rough up the load. I would put delicate in this machine as it tends to twist everything up so the potential for damage is great.
