Amperage is a component of electricity that is a unit of electron flow or current in a conductor. Your circuit board has fuses in it that have different amperages and when you have too much current flowing through the circuit, the breaker will trip. The Amps (short for ampere) listed for the unit (reads as 5 Amps but should be 10 Amps) let you know that the socket into which you're plugging the washer into must have a breaker that at least matches that of the unit so that it doesn't trip...IFV
