Q: QuestionDiscontinuing this model?I have been told by a store employee that after the LG DLEY1701 Dryer and washer LG WT1701CV inventory is sold, BBuy is not carrying this model? Why is that? I was planning to buy it but if there is a problem, don't want to.

• A:Answer Thank you for your inquiry. The amperage listed in the specifications for the LG - 5.0 Cu. Ft. 12-Cycle Mega-Capacity High-Efficiency Top-Loading Washer - Model # WT1701CW is probably one of the more important specifications for the washer, more so than the voltage. Amperage is a component of electricity that is a unit of electron flow or current in a conductor. Your circuit board has fuses in it that have different amperages and when you have too much current flowing through the circuit, the breaker will trip. The Amps (short for ampere) listed for the unit (reads as 5 Amps but should be 10 Amps) let you know that the socket into which you're plugging the washer into must have a breaker that at least matches that of the unit so that it doesn't trip...IFV

Q: QuestionDoes water remain in the washer causing mold-mildew?I want to go back to a top load washer because I don't like the mold problem of front loaders. Is the water that remains in the washer really because of the HE wash technology and not the front or top load issue? Will I have the same problem with a top load? Do I need to keep the lid open when not in use?

• A:Answer Hello Nana. Thank you for your inquiry. Regardless of what type of washer you use, there is always going to be a certain amount of water left. Water has cohesive properties so it will stick to the insides of the wash tub. The LG - 5.0 Cu. Ft. 12-Cycle Mega-Capacity High-Efficiency Top-Loading Washer - Model # WT1701CW, being a Top-Load Washer will have lees water remaining after the water drains out compared to a Front Loader, but if the washer will not be used for several days, leave the lid open overnight to allow the tub to dry. What really leads to mildewy or musty smells are some environmental or usage conditions that can cause residue to build up in the tub. This washer has a Tub Clean cycle that is specially designed to remove this buildup using bleach or another cleaners designed specifically for cleaning washing machines. It is recommended that you run the Tub Clean cycle once a month, or more often under heavy use conditions or if odor is present...IFV

Q: QuestionHow many inches from back of machine to hinge?How many inches are there from back of machine to the hinge of the loading door? I have upper cabinets and need to know if I have clearance. With the controls in the back of a standard machine, the hinge was more forward and this wasn't an issue. Love this machine but need this measurement. Thanks!

• A:Answer Hello Joanie. The closest match to the LG - 5.0 Cu. Ft. 12-Cycle Mega-Capacity High-Efficiency Top-Loading Washer - Model # WT1701CW is the WT5480CW which has a different design in that the controls are in the rear rather than in the front of the unit. It is about 5 inches taller, but that is due to the panel for the rear controls and it weighs a little bit more and has a slightly bigger capacity, 5.2 cubic feet versus 5.0 cubic feet, but otherwise it matches up best to the WT1701CW and does not have the steam feature...IFV
