I personally think it is plenty loud. I typically listen at volume level 10 (out of 100) and it is more than enough for my 16' x 20' master bedroom. Flat panel TVs notoriously do not have "great" sound due to the size of the speakers located in the smaller and more compact frames of these thin TVs. Might I suggest, if your TV's audio output is insufficient, that you consider external audio such as a soundbar or a receiver and separate speakers. Such setups will give you far superior sound compared to the TV's built in speakers.

It's unfortunate that this set lacks a headphone jack because those hard of hearing would probably benefit from the ability to use wireless headphones. Many mid-range TV's (not this) have bluetooth connectivity that can work with wireless headphones - which will allow you to adjust to your liking.
