“Back to my problem. My JVC receiver has coxal only connections. I purchased a HDMI cable with coxal ends for my receiver but still no sound through my receiver. The on line manual is no help.My simple question is do I need to purchase a new receiver?”

Most likely, you can find a 4K capable receiver for $300 and you’ll appreciate the boost in graphics and sound with straight hdmi connections.
