FIOS is how the signal arrives at your house. After that it goes through a converter in your basement and arrives at the back of your set through standard coax cable. Even if your home had internal fiber optic system, at some point the optical [Light signal] has to be converted back to copper wire [electric signal]. If your old TV is working, your new TV will also work.
