“I’m looking for a TV that would turn on automatically when I plug the power cord into the wall. The reason for this is, I’m building a virtual pinball machine and I want to be able to plug in the power cord and not have to use the controller to turn it on”

Ignore the answer from the lg person, what you'll need for your purposes is a tv with cec function, (consumer electronics control) so when you power on your pc, the tv will come out of standby mode like a pc monitor. Unfortunately not all video cards support cec, so it's important to make sure the video card you buy for your pc does support this. Alternatively, there are cec adapters that use the computer usb to send a switch on function to the tv
