“Instructions say you need 2 people to either carry the box or unpack the tv. Is this really true? I have no one to help.”

You will need 2 people to carry the box. Unpacking and then moving the TV once it is outside the box can be done by 1 person, at least I did it
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I was able to carry the box and set up the TV at age 75. It helped that I'm 6'2" tall, with a 6' arm span. A helper would have been nice, though.

My nephew didn't to seem to have much problem (his wife just guided the other half of the box). Now if it's one of the larger TVs, you might be able to carry it but because fo the box size, you might drag the opposite end of the box
