This tv has two HDMI inputs but also has component inputs. However, the HDMI is the way to go for picture clarity. The setup is pretty much done automatically. The menus are straightforward and easy to use. I hooked a bluray player and a satellite receiver to it with HDMI cables and the unit recognized both automatically.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No you don't have to. But if you want the best picture and quality from your TV then yes i recommend you buying one to be used with your cable box. If you don't have a cable box then you have no need for an HDMI cable. By set up im guessing you mean program channels and picture quality....of course you want top go thru those, no harm in that you just want to check everything is working ok in the menu settings and volume.

Please try again later.if you have other devices that you would like to set up to the TV like a play station or xbox, they will typically come with an HDMI cable (if you buy them new). Typically if you want to hook something up to the TV, you will most likely need a HDMI cable but keep in mind that some system/devices that you set up to the TV may come with a cable. if it doesn't come with one they can be purchased pretty much anywhere and they are not too expensive. I would definitely encourage you to get one if you do not have one already OR if you are not/do not have any type of gaming console that comes stock with a HDMI cable, they are always good to have on hand.

Best buys Geek squad a m be paid to come out to setup a tv but if you have cable you might call your cable company as they can also do some of this on a custom basis Also
