I did this too and I am still kicking myself for not thinking of it. I had to buy a new Sony Receiver that could handle 4K. So ask your self this question to answer your first question. Is my Onkyo a 4K capable Receiver??? What is the full model number of your Receiver? I looked that number up and the write up for one called the TX-RZ820 says it is 4K but I really do not know if that is what you have. Onkyo has been making Receivers for decades and reuse numbers all the time with newer prefixes. What ever the model is assuming it is a 4K capable Receiver, check that you are plugged in to the appropriate HDMI spot. Make sure that that input is set to automatically sense what is being fed to it. Make sure you have the ARC HDMI on your Receiver plugged into the ARC HDMI of your TV... Maybe check the Receiver's menu and make sure all the HDMI internal settings are set appropriately. You also might Google the same question and see if others are experiencing the same issue. My first thoughts are ...it is something to do with the Receiver, but you could have a bad player. What happened to me was that I bought a new 4K TV & 4K Blu-player and neglected to figure whether I could send 4K through my Receiver. When you get it working you will see that the LG UBK80 is quite possibly the best Optical Disc Player you have ever owned.
