• No. You don't need an internet connection for this unit. The ethernet jack is for updating the firmware. When I hooked mine up, it already had the latest firmware. Just hook up the unit to the TV via an HDMI cable and you are all set to watch 4K, Blu-ray, DVDs, etc.
