It might be doable, but I wouldn't advise it. Washer will shake a bit during spin cycle, regardless of how balanced it is. It'll probably start banging into the dryer. I wouldn't want the constant banging on the electronic equipment. Let alone the potential noise that could come with it.

To reduce noise and allow for good air flow, leave at least 1 inch of space on each side and between the machines. For proper ventilation and ease of use, aim for a total of 54 inches of space. With your 55-inch space, there's just 1 inch of clearance, which may not be enough.
