Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.the center dial is both rotary and touch. you just cycle through the wash types (AI, Perm Press, Delicates, etc) and then confirm on the touch dial. you can also adjust the temp, soil and other options from the panel on the right.

I had the other model with a knob similar to what you are describing and recently purchased this model. We love the new model even more than the last. More options but same great reliability you would expect.
