“Just purchased this washer a week ago and after about five loads it has started to make a loud whirling noise during the spin cycle. Is that normal with this model? Very annoying!”

Hi, The whirring sound heard before spin cycle is the sound of the drain pump. Therefore whirring sound you hear is normal but if the sound gets too loud, you should check the Drain Pump Filter.
