We recently purchased an LG 65" and added the LG 5.1.1 soundbar to it. We are still fine tuning the audio. It is trial and error and the output options are in the TV settings. Sometimes we feel the speakers are not working but it depends on what we are watching and the sound channels that are coming from that. It can be frustrating.

We understand that you're only getting sound from the surround system when the content is in Dolby format. The LG S70TR is designed to deliver immersive sound, and while it excels with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X content, it should also play other audio formats. This issue often relates to the audio output settings on your TV or the sound mode selected on your soundbar. Here are a few things to check: TV Audio Output Settings: On your TV, navigate to the sound settings and ensure the digital audio output is set to Bitstream or Auto, rather than PCM. This allows the TV to pass through the original audio format to the soundbar for decoding. Sound Mode on S70TR: Use the soundbar's remote or the LG Sound Bar app to explore different sound modes. Some modes, like AI Sound Pro or Standard, are designed to optimize sound for various content types, including non-Dolby audio. There might also be a "Surround Sound Setting" in the LG Sound Bar app that you can toggle On/Off, which can affect how non-Dolby content is processed. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-5-1-1-channel-s70tr-home-theater-soundbar-with-wireless-subwoofer-and-rear-speakers-dolby-atmos-wow-orchestra-black/6578017.p?skuId=6578017 If you continue to experience this issue after checking these settings, please send us a private message on Social Media @LGUSSupport and our team will be more than happy to explore possible solutions.
