I do not think you can turn those apps off. We have direct TV on our new LG Smart TV. We use two remotes. The TV remote select home button and then we use our Direct TV controller. Good luck.

That being said, you can disable the ads from your home screen by going to Home Settings > Home Promotion > On/Off and set your TV to open to the home page upon start-up by going to Settings > General > Home Settings > Home Auto Launch. ^Ian
