Yes, the switch for us was from Samsung Smart TV which was missing several Apps. We bought a Roku. We made it about a week before we got HBO MAX and had to hook up Roku for that. The new LG has many more Apps, but not all. It does have Disney Plus, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu and many, many more.

It does have apps, and they work great, but, to be honest, we primarily use the Roku remote (because that's what we're used to).
