“The power cord is too short. What do I do since it’s behind a compartment I’d have to open. Is it replaceable or I have to use an extension cord? Seems like mfrs would make 10 ft cords or make it easily accessible unlike this one.”

I'd recommend using a surge protector, which should be an effective extension.
