“Is the problem my settings, or is this TV just terrible at handling blacks? Tried watching a old film noir and in dark scenes lots of things blend/blur together that shouldn't. Can I fix this or do I need to return it if I'm not OK with this?”

My black and gray color scheme is just fine out of the box. I would watch some youtube videos before changing a lot of settings. Odds are someone else has had your same issue and found a way to resolve it.
