• The stand is basically legs on each side that have to tv about 2” off the surface. I would think you would have to use the legs for security purposes.

• The leg are the legs that support the TV to keep it upright. The stand width is 44.4". Are you planning to mount it on the wall above the cabinet? ^Daphane
