“What is the height of the cooktop? I'm assuming the 37 7/8" listed includes the piece that sticks up in the back, but I need to know if the cooktop will be at least close to level with my countertops. I haven't seen a real clear answer on this.”

36 inches high - not including the piece that sticks up in the back.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.We just had ours delivered and installed. The range sits flush with our countertop. There is the ability to adjust height with the front feet, and the back feet are self-leveling.
