No, WiFi is not essential. I've been using this range (Model LSE4616ST) for 7 weeks without WiFi connected, and it performs all the functions you would expect. I believe the only features that require an internet connection are related to the LG ThinQ application on your phone. See screenshot from the manual explaining these functions.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Wifi capapbility has nothing to do with the operation of this range. It works fabulously and the being able to boil water within a minute gives you the speed it has. We purchased a new condo and it had electric range. I prefer gas. Running a gas line to the kitchen was very expensive. This range solved the problem as it is like you are cooking with gas except without the flame and the top cools very quickly
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would imagine so, how else could you talk to your stove from 100 miles away. But for the life of me, I can't figure out why you would want to talk to your stove or refrigerator by remote control for 100 miles away on your telephone. Maybe there is some way to tell the refrigerator to put the turkey into the oven while your on vacation, and then tell the stove to turn on to cook it just before you get home????? I guess people want to stay connected to anything and everything now days. Sincerely, FRW
