“How durable is this flat top. 22 years ago I set down a cast iron skillet a little too hard on a glass top and had it shatter. I like cooking with my cast iron but need to make sure that if I do it again it won't crack or scratch the top.”

Hi there! Thank you for your question. The LG LDG4313ST is designed with a flat-top surface, which is generally durable and resistant to scratches and cracks. However, while the ceramic glass top is designed to withstand normal cooking use, it's still a good idea to handle cast iron skillets with care. Cast iron is quite heavy, and dropping or setting it down too hard can potentially damage the glass top. To avoid this, try to gently place the skillet on the cooktop and avoid any rough handling.
