I purchased this model about 1-1/2 months ago. I also, at first, was a little concerned about the drain plug. I left the plug in but kept my eye on it to see if the drain water would be an issue. I haven’t had any at all. Inside the unit is what’s called a skinner fan which expels the condensation (I don’t know the technical aspects), but this model is made to not drip. It’s wonderful! In July I ran it for 2 solid days because of the heat — and didn’t have one drip. The very bottom of the unit (outside) collects the water and sometimes looks like it’s going to overflow; but it doesn’t. It’s been working great. I think we’re all trained that air conditioners drip; this one is made not to. It’s a great air conditioner and I just bought 2 more for the upstairs.
