• You need a 40" surface. The outermost portion of the stands are approximately 39 1/2".

• The dimensions with the stand are 33.5"H x 10.3"D x 57.5"W.

• The width of the tv is 57.5 inches and the stands are in the inside of that. So you should be fine. I recommend hanging this tv up if you can. I had mine installed by geek squad and they did a terrific job for a reasonable price. And the tv is awesome even the sound is great for a thin tv.
