LG Slightly brighter, Sony motion handling differences. ABL different. Small differences.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would say in my opinion the main difference would be the Processors. Lg is running the a9 Processor. And Sony is running the X1 Extreme Processor. Really don’t know which one has over the other but I do know the Lg’s is newer Processor then the Sony’s. Sony has used that same processor in there 2017 Oled. Lg’s a9 just came out for 2018. Also Processing power will effect picture quality and motion. Hope this helps
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I had the Sony a1e and I went to Best Buy and we checked on the a8 and a9 and all were the same in two ways one it has a darker nits. The biggest problem with Sony in my opinion and the reason I got rid of my a1e and it seems to be the case with every type of Sony is that when you play 4k from an external device the image always goes to widescreen mode there for you lose half the screen. So it was like what is the point of having a large tv if the reason I got it was for 4k and everytime I would watch it it went to wodescreen I found that having a large tv seemed pointless. Therefore was my biggest reason switching to LG. So Idk if there is a way to fix it but Best Buy couldn’t and I called Sony and they said at this time there was no way to play full screen In 4k. If you watch in 1080p it worked fine. What’s the sense In that. So just wanted to warn you from my experience!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Have not seen the Sony Oled. But the Sony Oled uses the lg screen with its own picture resolution technology. Also Sony is just now starting to roll out Dolby vision on their TVs.

But this is quite a large purchase so i would find a best buy that has both in stock and view each TV and talk to the knowledgeable tech and make your decision accordingly.
