I think you have a defective remote. I've looked though the settings and I do not see anyway to turn off/on the cursor. Call Best Buy or LG.

If you don't see the cursor on your TV screen, shake the Magic Remote to the left and right to display the cursor. If you press the ▲▼◄► buttons while the cursor is in use, the cursor will disappear from the screen and the Magic Remote will operate like a general remote control...^IFV
