“I'm curious as to what people think about this. Why should I spend an extra $300 for this TV, which is edge lit, as compared to the 65UN8500PUI, which is direct lit. I've seen some comments about this TV being edge lit.”

Direct Lit TVs do not have Local Dimming whereas Edge-Lit TVs do. The LG NanoCell 85 Series 2020 65 inch Class 4K Smart UHD NanoCell TV w/ AI ThinQ® (64.5'' Diag), Model # 65NANO85UNA has Local Dimming. It features 2 x HDMI 2.1 ports, it will soon receive a firmware upgrade that adds support for FreeSync™ . The HDMI 2.1 ports support VRR. It also has an Art Gallery mode. However, at the end of it all, you will want to select the TV that has features that best suit your needs so all the features that the 65NANO85UNA has over the 65UN8500PUI don't mean anything if there are not features that best suit your needs...^IFV
