I believe you have the option to set it up that way. When I am watching Netflix, hit the home button, and select DirecTV, it will ask me if I want to turn the box on. I have not tried turning the dvr off, and the Blueray player on to see if it switches over.

I don't think so, but it will tell you. On the plus side, they are very active in developing the software, and this may come later if you send them an email.
