“Can this TV solely be supported by the stand it comes with when it's placed on a furniture counter? One of the responses indicated the stand needed to be bolted to the surface of furniture.”

This TV need only to be placed on its stand and placed on your TV stand. The stand itself is screwed into its stand, but the stand just sits on your furniture. My set was installed by Geek Squad and that's how they set it up.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it can! Its a fairly wide base shaped into an upside down v somewhat (if that makes sense). I was thinking of hanging mine but it looks good on my TV stand furniture so I think im going to leave it there. With that being said, its a very thin TV so you wouldn't want to have anybody run in to your furniture (kids...) and wobble the tv. Most of the "meat" is on the lower half of the tv and the screen does seem to wobble when pushed back and forth. I think its safe to say this base holds well as long as your sensible around it! Hope this helps! (BTW, i love the tv and feel its going to be pretty future proof!)
