Even though the LG 65” Class UA7050 Series LED AI 4K UHD Smart webOS TV (2025) Model # 65UA7050PUB is a 4K TV, as with any other 4K Smart TV, regardless of brand or manufacturer, it can play 1080p content using a process called upconverting (or upscaling) to convert incoming sources to fit its 4K screen. When 1080p content is played on a 4K television, the TV must perform upscaling to fit the higher-resolution display. Upscaling involves several advanced algorithms and technologies that enhance the image quality. While 1080p content won't match the inherent clarity and sharpness of true 4K content, it can still look quite good on a 4K TV.
