Yes, it is very good TV. If you do not want to use "smart" capability, you can connect it to the regular cable box and use it like you get used to. About just digital antenna, I am not sure since I did not use the set with antenna. But common sense says yes, if you have reception. If you are located near the tower. You can view several free channels. Again, if you have reception of these free channels in your area.
