There is a free program you can use called MakeMKV. This will allow you to rip the DVD or Blu-ray for storage. You can then setup PLex or DNLA for playback on most devices. Movies do require quite a bit of storage, although DVDs are the least storage happy so make sure you have the hard drive space!
