Lint collecting around dryer door seal. Anyone else experiencing this? null

I have the dlex4000 dryer and it too is accumulating lint at the bottom of the door seal directly across from the lint trap. Contacted LG and I got a lot of "it's normal". Had one agent tell me the history of lint, presuming that I didn't understand what lint was. Didn't know whether to laugh or cry after that one. So insulting. Also got a lot of "did you clean the lint screen?" (yes) and "did you wipe down the door seal?" (also, yes). One of the rocket scientists at customer service told me that the issue was not caused by the dryer because lint is caused by the items being dried, not the dryer. There is no way the dryer could be creating lint. What????? I never said the dryer was creating lint. It is obvious lint is not leaving these machines properly. Ran the duct install test and it passed. Also ran the duct diagnostics and it passed those.

I asked to have my case elevated and I'm assuming they didn't because the last response I got from LG was an offer of a replacement lint screen. I'll keep my fingers crossed but my hopes are low that this will solve anything. I read people have had service calls and doors replaced with no solution so it seems that this is a problem that is baked into the machines and LG isn't prepared to deal with it. I had one response essentially telling me that the service tech's time is "precious" and would be wasted on a service call for this issue. Take that under advisement the next time you're looking for a new dryer, appliance, phone, TV, etc.

I've had other brand dryers in the past and I've never seen lint accumulate on a door seal. Lint should not be staying in the dryer. At the very least it should be stuck to the lint screen and not blowing up from the screen onto the door seal. Besides, how does dried up lint stick to a door seal? I hope LG will take this issue seriously and come up with a solution.

Solution to bad engineering!!! I purchased the LG ThinQ unit new in 2022 and the same issue everyone is having is happening to me as well.I put window/door insulation around the edge of the dryer opening and it has pretty much fixed the issue.If you can find a thicker insulator I’d use that but this one seems to work pretty decent.

It’s happening to mine and driving me insane. I had Best Buy deliver me a new dryer and it is still doing the same thing. I’m not happy about this because when I remove the clean laundry it ends up touching the lint mess and it also makes a mess all over my floor. I need to clean it after each load or the collection gets way worse than my pictures. This is what builds up after one load. This should not be happening. Heading back into Best Buy this week to look for the solution.

I have the DLEX3900B, but same door and seal design. Yes, have lint buildup on lower half of door gasket. Really annoying for this expensive of a dryer. Service tech couldn't find anything wrong and left without really doing anything to solve the issue. Poor sheet metal and door gasket design. Maybe lemons? Looking into replacement unit by LG, not really up for multiple service calls.

Yes, lint build up and even moisture on the seal and dripping down. LG has given great customer service and sent someone to fix the door. But a new door has not fixed the problem. I thought maybe a lemon, but a neighbor reported that hers does the same, so I searched online and now found that there are others on here with the same problem! Such a bother!! Will probably need to return for another brand.

It looks like a VERY poor design on LGs part. You can see in the pic the rubber seal leaves almost a 1/4 gap all the way around the door. It's not a defect or a lemon, it's just a bad design.

Same issue. I've only had my washer and dryer for 24 days and Best Buy won't do anything. 9 days too late. Won't be buying the $9k stove I had planned to buy from them. Called LG. Same response the rest of you have received. They want us to believe this is normal. Try using a dryer sheet (of course...I use one with every load). Wipe the door (I shouldn't have to clean the dryer door after every use). Pet hair is likely the issue (hmm...3 hairs on the door and the rest is lint). For the cost of this dryer, they need to come up with a solution.

My LG dryer does the same thing. It is really frustrating and makes a mess. Has anyone had any luck reporting it to LG? I tried to report it to LG after my first load and they told me the dryer wasn’t venting properly to the outside and I would need to fix that issue on my own. I never had an issue with my other dryer. It’s definitely a poor design.

Same here as well and not the vent lines because the same lent buildup leading to leaks has happened, but it was a brand new home and clear lines. Just poor choice/supply of rubber perhaps? Our washer water drip drain is also disgusting no matter how often we empty it and no way to empty it without making a mess as LG repair team also explained was “as expected.”

We have a new Electrolux, it does the same thing, there is lint on the lower half of the dryer door window around the seal after each drying load. For an expensive machine, i find this super annoying.  We had a service guy come out and he tells me all dryers with these doors do that. Really??? So in addition to cleaning the lint trap, i have to clean the door,  and try to be careful because i dont want to damage that seal.  Not acceptable in my opinion.

Mine does it too. I’ve tried new latches but could only modify them to make the door looser. LG needs to either make a new latch that holds the door a little tighter, or make a thicker seal at the bottom. Maybe we should all join together in a class action lawsuit!

Yes I have lint on the dryer door seal of my high end LG dryer, bought in 2022, the square ones.  I can see the lint when the door is closed and it’s gross. Seems like we’ve added a “clean the dryer door” step to our laundry routine.

Reading all these comments about LG’s “couldn’t care less attitude” towards paying customers seems infuriating.  Perhaps a group lawsuit would  make the brand do something about this issue.

I just got a brand new DLEX4000 and notice the door does not shut tight. This is due to the latch that doesn't suck the door tight against the body of the drier. Amazing LG cant see the problem and make a new $2.00 latch. I will order a new latch and modify it to work.

I have also been having this issue. I chose this model because its compact and looks decent in our small apartment where there is no laundry room to conceal it in. The issue is that the seal is inadequate as a result there is always lint dust all over our apartment I clean it up and its back instantly. I believe they should fix this as it seams to be happening to everyone. I might try the weather stripping in the previous review, Who has time to spend hours or even days on the phone with customer service only to be brushed of and left with no fix. Definitely would not buy again until this issue has been fixed.

I too have a DLEX4000W.  I'mfinding lint on both sides of the filter in addition to lint on the door seal,  I found my problem to be with the door.  Even when "closed", it's not a tight seal.  Turn the power on, close the door and push on the side with the striker.  If looking at the interior of the dryer, I see my door will manually push in another 3/8" or so.  LG has changed the striker design on newer models to get around the problem of an improper seal.  Don't see that a new door or latch would fix the problem on this model.

Have a new LG Tower and noticed after the first load that there was lint on the dryer door seal. checked the closure on the door and it does not fit fight enough to the dyer to enable the seal to make full contact. 
It is an easy test, close the dryer door, let it relax , and then see if it can be closed  a little tighter by pushing on it. You can also watch the seal make better contact when you push it gently . Will be calling LG to get their explanation and what they intent to do ?"

Yep me too, my 17 yr old lg tromm dryer had a larger mesh vent with a felt seal around the edge. 
I don’t think the removable mesh  vent is large enough on my new larger capacity dryer. The mesh vent area is much smaller in size than my old smaller cap. Dryer. Has no felt around the edge for any sort of seal the lint in to happen. 
Everything is made cheaper and we pay more. It’s all about the rip off I guess. Someone got a bonus for  saving them that money they use to spend on a strip of felt.

This is not the most important issue with the LG dryer. The worst part is that the lint goes around the filter and gets stuck below the filter in the bottom of the housing blocking the flow of air. Plus it builds up so much that you can’t push the filter in all the way. It will stick up and catch and ruin your clothes. LG needs to step up and make fix for this.

Mine does this too. Brand new dryer that has done this since day 1.  I cleaned the vents, and I keep the lint trap clean between loads but my laundry room is disgusting now because there's lint and hair everywhere and it doesn't even remove it from the clothes all that well.

I replaced a 15 year old dryer that WORKED PERFECTLY and never did this, only to make my life harder.  I do much more laundry than your average person-  typically 2 loads daily.  If I don't vacuum the laundry room every single day and drop a clean item on the floor it's covered in hair and lint.  What?  I can't believe I paid all that money for a fancy dryer that has a defective door.

I'm going to see if I can rig up a better seal too- because I can't live like this.

I am having this same issue! Making it more concerning, the collection of sand and lint creates a gap where moisture is now escaping our dryer and collecting on the floor if the seal is not cleaned after every load. Very poor design here.

Latest Model (2023)  same thing happenng - you'd think LG would have addressed the problem by now. Brand new LG washer and dryer. I'll start with the washer because the problem lies with it as well. Washer doesn't clean clothes (noisy, spin problems - shrinks, tears, and stretches clothes on Delicate Cold water cycle –terrible washer!) . They go into the dryer less than clean - and remaining dirt along with lint ends up on the the dryer door seal (disgusting). Lint trap is the worst (screen holes too large) and doesn't fit property so lint ends up not just on the lint trap. but on the door, and gets into the lint trad compartment. Flies out when you remove the lint trap with a lot remaining behind stuck in all the nooks and hardware inside the lint trap compartment. Less than a year old - can't go through one more wash – will try to sell them but buying Electrolux set this weekend!

Same issue. Put 3/16in thick square cross section window sealing foam behind the seal body on the door side. Noticeably tighter fit now when closing the door and I don't have to see the foam visible on the dryer opening. We'll see how long it lasts, I imagine I'll have to replace at some regular interval. Seems like a super solvable problem on LGs part, likely related manufacturing tolerances. Maybe they made a decision to lean towards a looser fit so customers don't complain about not being able to close the door easily haha

Yep!! It’s so bad , two weeks in and every time I open the door dirt is collected around the seal along with water ( not using steam) this the LG as well. This is crap that should have come out in the wash, not just lint !!

Yes! Same problem just bought new lg washer and gas dryer. 
If compared to my old lg gas dryer, the door gasket is way thinner and it is on a plastic surface the old one was more heavy not on plastic. the mesh lint catcher is way smaller than the old one even tho this dryer is larger cubic size, and doesn’t have the the felt seal around the edge like the old lg lint catcher. Yes this dryer makes a lint mess all over the room when I wipe off the lint that is stuck to the gasket and the door opening. I also think the lint catcher is way too small. The thin gasket doesn’t seal properly allowing condensation to appear around the door.
Very bad ! Should have kept my old lg dryer it had none of these issues.

Brand new dryer barely 2 weeks old and this has been happening since load 1.  Also noting some drops of water and moisture on the inside of the dryer around the door/seal as well.  Plan to reach out to Best Buy/LG.

YES! it is horrible, i have already had my pump replaced (machine is about 6 months old). I continually get the error code OE and the water will not drain. The tech said it is bc of my dog hair (two small dogs less than 10 lbs each). i was draining and cleaning the coin trap every wash, and sometimes there is so much water it FLOODS out (be prepared)! (So much water in fact that when I drain at the bottom, it has leaked through the floor) cause ceiling damage below! I have the tech coming tomorrow again! This is such a bad design DO NOT PURCHASE
