“I have the LG Sound Bar sn9yg - I just added the rear surround speakers. To activate surround sound it says to press and hold down the Auto Volume button on my remote. There is no Auto Vol on my remote! I have "folder" buttons instead unlike the diagram”

Try downloading the LG SoundBar app. It should have some of the functionality you're looking for. I searched for an hour before I found a tip about the app - was trying to connect the Spk8 speakers to the SL4y SoundBar. The app solved my problem and made connecting the rear speakers easy.
