“Can I use the digital audio jack and the tv's speakers at the same time or does the use of the digital audio jack turn off the tv speakers? I need to be able to use both at the same time.”

In the “Audio” settings you can select several options one being sound from TV plus Digital Output. I have mine set up that way which my BOSE surround sound. You can also just have audio come from TV but as I said you can select several audio output options in settings
