All I know is that Hubby and I mounted a tv above (almost inset actually) a regular wood burning fireplace. We used cement board to reduce the heat between tv and fire. We used that fireplace and the tv regularly and never had a problem.

That heat will cause your TV to over heat and Not to mention the screen could also get damaged from the the heat that is rising up on it. Yes I can see the cool looking factor the you are thinking about and visualizing in your head but the heat Will shorten the TVS life by a lot and most likely damage it. Sorry for the bad news.

And if you already have an outlet, Ethernet cable already on that wall above the fireplace? And if it’s too high? 77” is pretty big, people usually install a smaller tv above fireplace.

However, I personally think that installing a television above a fireplace is usually a mistake, as it makes it uncomfortable to watch television for any length of time while having to continually look upward. TVs should be placed closer to eye level for maximum comfort and, if not, can put strain on the neck after just a few minutes.
