The sound bar would be optional. A sound bar can be added to improve sound quality at your discretion. ^ Jamal

A soundbar is optional. The TV has built in stereo speakers, and they sound very good considering the thinness of the TV.

Good question. Honestly, any store will try to upsell you on an expensive Surround System if you are dropping this much coin on at TV like this. Liken it to buying a Ferrari using pillows for tires... I'd also ask, why would you want a sound bar?! At least do a 5.1 system with wireless back speakers...BUT if that is your preference, anything Pioneer or Yamaha in a sound bar wont do you wrong.
