You are paying a premium for the wallpaper tech. This this literally blends right into the wall and is almost invisible. Its quite a technical marvel and people will pay a premium for that crazy look. Trust me when I say it is possibly the coolest looking TV ever made. Even projector screens are generally 1+ inches off the wall. This thing from the side is so thin you can hardly tell its there. Kind like taking a hardback book cover and pushing against the wall. It is barely noticeable.

Please try again later.When I spoke to the Best Buy sales associate he told me the difference is that the new 2017 version has an upscale engine that can take old digital DVD's like home movie quality and upscale them near 2160. Not sure how true that was but if it works it may be worth it since there are not that many 4k movies to begin with.
