There’s a charger built into the stand for the second battery. Both batteries can charge simultaneously. ^Daphane

Yes one battery goes into the vacuum and the other battery is charged in the stand. When the vacuum is mounted onto the stand both batteries are charged. I really like this battery operated vacuum it has displaced my two corded vacuums one of which was a dyson
