The American DVD Copy Control Association requires that DVD Player manufacturers incorporate the regional-playback control (RPC) system, so the LG DVD Player with MP3 Playback/JPEG Viewer - Black. Model # DP132H is coded to play region 1 DVDs. DVDs that are marketed and sold in the U.S. will generally be coded for region 1...^IFV

• I have not used yet the the upscaling LG player only the previous version without HDMI that should be the same in all aspects except the HDMI feature. It plays Pal DVDs and it played a DVD labeled with Region 2. Question is if it was truly coded for Region 2 or it was just printed on the DVD cover but disc really was not coded (which is a possibility). I bought the LG DVD player for its very unique feature of playing CD-G discs. I use a modified Sony Blue Ray player to play European DVDs and Blue Ray Discs.
