Please pardon us for the redundancy but as the tile description implies, the LG DVD Player with USB Direct Recording, Model # DP132 is a DVD player so it is designed to play DVDs. DVD technology is backward compatible so it will also play CDs but cannot play Blu-ray DVDs. The USB Direct Recording function can only record audio tracks from a DVD or CD, it cannot "do timer recording of a TV program"...^IFV
