• Yes, the DVD player comes with a remote/batteries. I don't understand "does it play region 2," so I can't answer that portion of your question. Hope this helps.

• This player is region coded for Region 1. It will not play Region 2 discs. It will only play discs that are coded "All" or "0" and those coded for Region 1. It does come with a remote. ^Daphane
