Emojis will appear. They may appear slightly different from your friend's smartphone as they may have an Iphone, but some version of it will appear. You can send emojis as well, but you are kind of limited to what the vn220 has built in, which is all some form of a smiley face. You can however, copy emojis from texts sent to you, and paste them in new messages.
