Does this phone use the GSM network for the US? null

I couldn't get mine to work on AT&T. I took it to a corporate AT&T store, not just a franchise, and they couldn't get it to work either. The phone would send and receive text messages but could not make or receive phone calls. The same SIM worked just fine in other phones, so it's not the SIM. Also, I can't I get this phone to work in Africa (Congo and Burundi) on their GSM Networks.

Bring your SIM card to the store and test it right on the spot. not really unlocked.

Yes, this uses GSM carriers.
