• Hi troyboy. Think of the HDMI output port on the LG - Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer, Model # LAS551H more as another Input than just an output. That HDMI port supports the ARC function so if you had a TV or other devices that also support the ARC (Audio Return Channel) function you would have one additional way to have audio pass from one unit to the other, it's a 2 way stream. You can then use the HDMI Input for another device that only has an HDMI Out. Be sure to use a Type A, High Speed HDMI™ cable with Ethernet if you intend to use the ARC function...^IFV

• It's for a TV with an ARC port HDMI input. Many new TVs include one.

• If using HDMI, it is to route one HDMI source in from a cable/satellite receiver then an HDMI cable out to the TV.

• Its to send an audio signal to other components, like if you have a surround sound system with a reciever that has an hdmi input. They will then work together.
