Can't address the compressor issue, although reviews are a lot better on this one, and all fairly new, so maybe they finally fixed the design. But the ice cube capacity is fixed, with the smaller ice storage and increase in food storage. I like it. Our family of two has no problem with it until company comes, and then we store ice beforehand.
